COMMUNITY RENAMING POLICY ADOPTED. CONGRESS OF NEIGHBORHOODS PLANNING MEETING SET. NEXT BONC MEETING SET FOR FEBRUARY 7.
COMMUNITY RENAMING POLICY ADOPTED BY CITY COUNCIL
It took a long, long time. It's been on our home page for what seems like forever. On Tuesday, the City Council adopted a new policy through which communities can be renamed. The Neighborhood Council in the affected area is expected to, but not required to, hold at least one community meeting to get input from stakeholders before weighing in. The policy and the encompanying reports can be found right now on our home page, or by
clicking here. It's 17 pages. Shortly, it will be moved to the Reference Library section of our website.
CONGRESS OF NEIGHBORHOODS PLANNING MEETING SET
As is our practice, we always have several meetings with interested Neighborhood Council leaders to discuss the past Congress, and plan for the next one. To date, we've been able to shape each Congress almost exactly the way you have suggested. We are constrained by certain realities such as time and money.
As you know by now, the next Congress of Neighborhoods will be held on Saturday morning, June 17 at the Convention Center. The first of the planning meetings will be held on WeFebruary 15 at 6:30 p.m. in our Empowerment Academy Training Center at 305 East First Street in Little Tokyo. There will be free parking in Lot 7. If you are planning to attend and help us plan, please call Anataly DeJesus at (213) 473-4656, or reach her at Anataly.DeJesus@lacity.org.
NEXT BOARD OF NEIGHBORHOOD COMMISSIONERS MEETING SET FOR FEBRUARY 7
The agenda is available on our website, or by
clicking here. For those of you who subscribe to the agenda through the city's Early Notification System, you already have it.
One of the important items is a staff report that deals with the serious issues surrounding the Vermont Harbor Neighborhood Council. The staff report can be found on our home page, or by
clicking here.
