Linda Lucks appointed to the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners
Please join me in welcoming Commissioner Linda Lucks to the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners. Commissioner Lucks was confirmed in City Council today and is filling the vacancy created by former Acting President Jimmie Woods Gray whose term ended June 30, 2006.
Ms. Lucks is a Venice resident and comes to us with an extensive background in community activism. She currently serves as President of the Board of Directors of Families in New Directions and is a member of the Women's Political Committee, the California List and the Friends of the Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women.
She was elected in 2005 as an at large member of the Grass Roots Venice Neighborhood Council.
She served as Chair of the Venice Beach Area Police Advisory Committee and is a founder and co-chair of the annual Venice Garden Tour, which benefits the Neighborhood Youth Association's Las Doradas Children's Center and is a recipient of the annual "Spirit of Venice" award.
