Congratulations to Wilmington Neighborhood Council
This month marks a historic milestone for our Neighborhood Council (NC) System. Five years ago, the Wilmington NC was the very first certified by the City of Los Angeles. There was an event that took place last week where community and elected leaders gathered to celebrate.
"Wilmington is the first and remains a true model of a working and successful NC," said Lisa Sarno, Interim General Manager of DONE. The proactive work on securing partnerships to advance beautification projects, collaborating with schools and community based organizations has provided much needed resources to their stakeholders.
Some of the officials in attendance were Councilmember Janice Hahn and Board of Neighborhood Commissioner Diane Middleton. "Most significant is Wilmington NC's success in having stakeholder diversity represented on their Board. The fact that diverse representation is stated in their by-laws has lead to their overall success," said Diane Middleton.
Congratulations to members of the entire Board of the Wilmington NC! On behalf of DONE, BONC and the City as a whole, we thank you very much for your dedication and ongoing commitment of public service.
