Re: A Message from Councilmember Janice Hahn

A message from Councilwoman Hahn regarding a proposal that she is advancing that she would like neighborhood councils to be aware of and weigh in on.  The Council File number is 07-0102 if you want to submit a Community Impact Statement.  Council will take up this matter some time after it returns from recess on 9/11."

Today I introduced the City Council motion that sets the stage for a ballot measure in February to finally fund gang prevention, intervention, after school programs and job training.

I am sending the motion out to supporters and neighborhood councils to get input before the languge for the measure is drafted.

The final measure will hold the city accountable for spending the money only on programs that have been proven to work. Additionally, it will include a citizens oversight committee, as well as annual audits by the City Controller to ensure that the money is being spend properly and that the programs that we fund are working.

Take a look at the motion and if you have any input into the language of the ballot measure, please let me know.
