Re: Special Education & Neighborhoods Committee Meetings

Dear Neighborhood Council Members:

Councilmember Richard Alarcón invites you to join the Education & Neighborhoods Committee for a special meeting to hear public comment on the Neighborhood Council system and the Neighborhood Council Review Commission's formal report, “The Neighborhood Council System: Past, Present and Future.”

Neighborhood Councils have been an integral part of the review process.  Now that the report is out, this is an opportunity to comment directly on the items brought up by the Commission report or other items relative to the Neighborhood Council system.

We hope you can join us at one of the following meetings:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

As Chair of the Education and Neighborhoods Committee, Los Angeles City Councilmember Richard Alarcón has scheduled four special Education and Neighborhoods Committee meetings that will be held exclusively to hear public comment on the Neighborhood Council system and the Neighborhood Council Review Commission's formal report, “The Neighborhood Council System: Past, Present and Future.”  These meetings will be held in the evenings and in four different locations throughout the city, to ensure as much public participation as possible.  The first meeting was last Tuesday in the Valley, and the remaining three are spread across the City to promote as much public participation as possible.

Every person will be given two minutes to speak on the record.  Speakers who have not yet addressed the Committee during one of the special meetings on the Neighborhood Council review will be given priority.  Those interested in participating are also encouraged to submit written testimony, either at the meetings or via email.  Emailed testimony can be sent to Jessyca Avalos at jessyca.avalos@lacity.org
