Re: Reminder - Regional Board Training in the Valley - Saturday, August 16, 2008 8am-12:30pm
Dear Friends,
In order to help new and seasoned Neighborhood Council Board Members serve their communities effectively, the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment is offering a Board Training for new and seasoned Board Members on Saturday, August 16, 2008 from 8am-12:30pm. The training will be held at the Marvin Braude Constituent Service Center, 6262 Van Nuys Blvd., Van Nuys, CA 91401.
The training will cover basic and advanced subjects pertinent to NC Board Members and will include:
Meet and Greet with new BONC Commissioner Al Abrams
Board Roles and Responsibilities - Cindy Cleghorn, Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council Board Member and former Commissioner for the Neighborhood Council Review Commission
Community Impact Statement and the New Council File Management System - Shannon Hoppes, City Clerk's Office, will be presenting the City Clerk's new Council File Management System; Keeping You Plugged into City Hall. Learn how to effectively use this vital tool to track important issues affecting your neighborhoods and how Neighborhood Councils can weigh in on critical City Council decisions through the submission of Community Impact Statements.
