DONE NEWS

Community Budget Survey Featured in the Los Angeles Times
The Los Angeles Times recently did an article on the Community Budget Survey and its importance to the City.  If you haven't already taken the Budget Survey, p lease fill out a survey English or Spanish.  The due date to submit Community Budget Surveys has been extended to January 31, 2009.  We ask that Neighborhood Councils set aside the time to schedule a "Budget Survey Presentation" for their Project Coordinator and Budget Representative in their January meetings as well as make the survey and website link available to their stakeholders.

The surveys capture important community input to help determine the 2009-2010 City of Los Angeles budget priorities when we are facing many challenges, including the uncertain impact of the turbulent national economy.  The Mayor and the leaders of the City's 89 Neighborhood Councils use the survey information to better understand the unique needs of each of the City's regions. There is still an opportunity to make your voice heard on budget priorities.  For more information or if you need assistance with the online survey, please contact your Project Coordinator at (213) 485-1360.

PlanCheckNC Is Holding a Training on Environmental Review This Saturday, January 10th

PlanCheckNC will be starting a new year of  programs designed to educate Neighborhood Council and community members on planning and land use issues in the City.  On Saturday, January 10th at 10 am, the PlanCheckNC program includes an overview of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the CEQA process, how the City of Los Angeles implements CEQA, the requirements and opportunities for public involvement, and the relationship of CEQA to land use entitlements. The program will offer participants the opportunity to question current CEQA practitioners in the ways that communities can best use the CEQA process to their benefit, which strategies help your cause and which do not.  You will learn how to provide input to the City and take the concepts back to your individual neighborhood councils.

This meeting will be held at the Historic Downtown Outreach Center, 114 W. 5th Street, Los Angeles 90013.  For additional information about PlanCheckNC or its programs and events, please contact Maggi Fajnor at maggi4f@gmail.com or Cindy Cleghorn at cindy@cmprintmail.com.
