Recap of the Citywide Congress Planning Committee June 25th Meeting
At its June 25 th meeting, the Congress Planning Committee filled vacant Harbor and East Area seats and selected its committee and subcommittee leadership. The Planning Committee also voiced approval for holding both the Congress and Community Budget Day events on Saturday, October 10th. Terry Gomes from the SORO Neighborhood Council and Al Abrams, a member of the Tarzana NC and a member of the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners, are the Congress Planning Committee co-chairs. The next Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at a location still to be determined. Weekly updates regarding committee and subcommittee activities will continue to be provided via Neighborhood Empowerment e-blasts and posted on our website.
The members of the Congress Planning Committee are:

NC Self Update Needs Updating!
Please take a few moments to update your information on our new NC Self Update database if you haven't sign up yet. In addition to providing your stakeholders information about their NC Board members, City departments use this database to inform the NC's of important timely announcements in areas such as transportation, planning/land use, and utilities. The Board of Neighborhood Commissioners (Commission) July meetings have been rescheduled. The Commission's next meeting will be on Monday evening, July 20, 2009 in South Los Angeles. More information to follow.
The Commission Meetings Are Accessible Via the Telephone
You can now listen to a Commission meeting live via the telephone. This service is available only when the Commission is meeting at City Hall by calling CityFone -- 213-621-CITY.

Office of Finance Offers Alarm Users Online Access to Pay Fees
The City of Los Angeles has new online capabilities for alarm users. Users can now register, renew and pay their alarm permit fees over the internet. These new services are available on the Office of Finance's website and provide an easy way for alarm users to manage their alarm permits, saving time and postage. The Office of Finance is providing new services to make paying alarm permit fees more convenient for the public and more cost effective for the City.
Bureau of Sanitation S.A.F.E. Centers Accept Analog Televisions
With the switch from analog to digital broadcasting, the City of Los Angeles ' Bureau of Sanitation reminds the public to properly discard analog televisions, antennas and other electronics by taking them to a S.A.F.E Center . For information on locations and hours of S.A.F.E. Centers, go to their website.

West Hills and Winnetka NC's Offer CERT Training Starting Thursday, July 2nd
West Hills NC and Winnetka NC are working together to offer a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training over seven Thursday evenings starting July 2, 2009. For more information and to enroll, please go to the information link.
Arroyo Seco NC Hosting CERT Simulated Triage Tarp Drill on Saturday, July 25th
Arroyo Seco NC will be coordinating a CERT simulated Triage Tarp Drill on Saturday, July 25, 2009 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Hermon Park, 5568 Via Marisol, Los Angeles 90042. This drill is designed to give CERT members experience with disaster medical treatment as would be practiced on triage tarps during a major disaster. These techniques will be demonstrated on simulated victims of a natural disaster. Lunch will be served.
