Dear Friend of the LAFD:

Many of you have expressed an interest in the status of Los Angeles Fire Department projects funded by Proposition F:

...the November 2000 Bond Measure resoundingly approved by the voters of Los Angeles to replace 19 existing Neighborhood Fire Stations and construct one new Neighborhood Fire Station, as well as LAFD projects funded by Proposition Q:

Kindly allow me to provide you with a brief status report on each of the 20 Fire Station projects in Proposition F:

- Fire Station 89 (North Hollywood), a Regional Fire Station at current location. Construction began in August 2003 for apparatus storage shed and classroom. Completed in August 2004. Fire Station expansion in design phase using Prop Q funds.

- Fire Station 77 (Sun Valley), a Standard Fire Station at 9224 Sunland Blvd. at Tuxford Street. Construction began in October 2003 for a new 6-bay Fire Station that is 60% complete. Completion scheduled in March 2005.

- Fire Station 83 (Encino), a Standard Fire Station at 16843 Moorpark Street at Balboa Boulevard. Construction began in April 2004 for a new 6-bay Fire Station that is now 25% complete. Completion scheduled in March 2006.

- Fire Station 65 (Watts), a Standard Fire Station at 1801 East Century Blvd. at Holmes Avenue. Construction began in May 2004 for a new 6-bay Fire Station that is now 30% complete. Completion scheduled in September 2005.

- Fire Station 5 (Westchester), a Regional Fire Station at 8900 Emerson Avenue at Westchester Parkway. Construction began in May 2004 for a new 7-bay Fire Station, apparatus storage shed and classroom that is now 30% complete. Completion scheduled in March 2006.

- Fire Station 81 (Panorama City), a Standard Fire Station and Drill Tower at 7900 Nollan Place at Arminta Street. Construction began in June 2004 for a new 7-bay Fire Station, drill tower, recruit training center and apparatus storage shed. Completion scheduled in November 2006.

- Fire Station 114 (Van Nuys Airport), Air Operations at 16617 Arminta Street at Van Nuys Airport. Construction began in June 2004. Completion scheduled in January 2007.

- Fire Station 84 (Woodland Hills), a Regional Fire Station at 21050 Burbank Blvd. at Warner Center Lane. Construction began in September 2004 for a new 7-bay Fire station, apparatus storage shed and classroom. Completion scheduled in March 2006.

- Fire Station 59 (West Los Angeles), a Regional Fire Station at current location. Construction underway on apparatus storage shed and classroom and is 5% complete. Completion scheduled for May 2006. Fire Station expansion in construction phase using Prop Q funds.

- Fire Station 62 (Mar Vista), a Standard Fire Station at SE corner of Venice Blvd. and Inglewood Blvd. Construction of a new 6-bay Fire Station is scheduled to begin in January 2005 and be completed in April 2006.

- Fire Station 78 (Studio City), a Standard Fire Station at Whitsett Avenue and Valleyheart Drive. Construction of a new 6-bay Fire Station will begin following design completion. Completion scheduled in November 2006.

- Fire Station 13 (Koreatown), a Standard Fire Station at NW corner of Pico Blvd. and Westmoreland Avenue. Construction of a new 6-bay Fire Station will begin in 6 to 12 months. Completion scheduled in December 2006.

- Fire Station 36 (San Pedro), a New Fire Station at 1005 N. Gaffey Street at Miraflores Avenue. Construction of a new 3-bay fire station has not yet started. Completion scheduled in December 2006.

- Fire Station 43 (Palms), a Standard Fire Station at 3690 Motor Avenue at Regent Street. Construction of this new 6-bay Fire Station has not yet started. Completion scheduled in January 2007.

- Fire Station 64 (South Los Angeles), a Regional Fire Station at SW corner of 108th Street and Main Street. Construction of a new 7-bay Fire Station, apparatus storage shed and classroom scheduled to begin in February 2005 and be completed in January 2007.

- Fire Station 87 (Granada Hills), a Regional Fire Station at 10124 Balboa Blvd. at Mayall Street. Construction of a new 7-bay Fire Station, apparatus storage shed and classroom have not started. Completion scheduled in January 2007.

- Fire Station 21 (South Los Angeles), a Regional Fire Station at 1192 East 51st Street behind the existing Fire Station. Construction of this new 6-bay Fire Station, apparatus storage shed and classroom have not yet started. Completion scheduled in June 2007.

- Fire Station 4 (Chinatown), a Standard Fire Station and LAFD Dispatch Center on Temple Street east of Alameda Street. Construction of the new 7-bay Fire Station, Dispatch Center and City EOC will begin next year after the designs are completed. Completion scheduled in November 2007.

- Fire Station 82 (Hollywood), a Regional Fire Station in Hollywood. Location, design and construction of a new 7-bay Fire Station, apparatus storage shed and classroom are still being determined. Completion scheduled in June 2008.

- Fire Station 94 (Crenshaw District), a Regional Fire Station location, design and construction are on hold until land and property can be acquired.
