Beta-Test of LAFD_ALERT
. . . help us beta-test a new project
by Brian Humphrey
LAFD Spokesman
Dear Friend of the LAFD:
We can't think of anyone better to lend us a hand. As a longtime recipient of LAFD E-News via Yahoo, we thought you'd be perfect in helping us beta-test a new project: LAFD_ALERT
Please let us explain...
|
LAFD_ALERT will inform people like you about breaking news and major 'in-progress' events being handled by the men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department. As such, the LAFD_ALERT system will complement the 'after-action' reports you are currently - and will continue to receive (or view on-line).
What are LAFD_ALERT messages?
LAFD_ALERT provides you with the same 'breaking news' advisories we send directly to the news media and allied agencies when significant events are 'in-progress' . Because LAFD_ALERT messages can be sent to any internet addressable device (such as your cell phone or PDA that uses an e-mail address), you can receive an LAFD_ALERT anywhere you choose, including your computer.
Please know that an LAFD_ALERT is *not* an official instruction or authorization to take action. With much of the LAFD_ALERT data changing immensely during early minutes of an 'in-progress' event, we can't always guarantee the timeliness or long-term accuracy of individual LAFD_ALERT messages.
Yes... for the official account of what really happened, we'll continue to send you 'after-action' reports of significant incidents via the Yahoo Group (you already belong to), or refer you to our popular blog.
So, will you give it a try?
To join the LAFD_ALERT list, simply send an e-mail to:
NOTE: No 'Google' membership is necessary!
To unsubscribe from the LAFD_ALERT list at anytime, send an e-mail to:
If you prefer to sign up your cell phone or wireless device, you can use the on-line form at:
Still not sure? We encourage you to learn more by visiting:
...Oh, and please remember that there is an underscore " _ " between the words LAFD and ALERT, and that simple unsubscribe instructions will be at the *bottom* of every message we send!
We do welcome your comments and suggestions related to the LAFD_ALERT project exclusively via the LAFD Blog comment line at:
Thanks for your time, and for your continued support of our mission. If you have a friend or family member who may be interested in this test project, please feel free to forward this e-mail.
Respectfully Yours in Safety and Service,
