Staying Safe in Future Earthquakes

Yesterday morning's 5.4 magnitude earthquake is a stark reminder of the potential disasters all of us face in Southern California and the critical importance of being prepared.
Please,
Make sure you have an emergency kit in your home, car, and at work.
Make sure you know what to do during, and after, an earthquake; and
Make sure you have a plan to account for and communicate with your family. |
Need help completing these important steps?
Then download this guide (40 page pdf file) from the LA Fire Department on Emergency Preparedness. Attached to the guide are two additional pages on developing a plan and putting together an emergency kit.
Want to buy an emergency kit rather than put one together? Then check out www.quakecare.com or any of the numerous disaster kits available on the internet.
Want to be more involved with earthquake preparedness? Then join the Great Southern California Shakeout and encourage your friends and family to join as well.
Thankfully, yesterday's earthquake did not result in any significant damage or injuries. The next one might, and the big one definitely will. Be prepared and lead the way for you and your family to be prepared for the next earthquake or disaster.
Remember, it is our responsibility to make sure Los Angeles is as safe as it can be.
