Responding
to alarms
Jan. 11th
Dear Editor:
On Jan. 10, in the 8100 Block of Winnetka, over a dozen police officers,
detectives, a helicopter, two rescue ambulances, one fire truck
and traffic officers responded to a drug-crazed man in traffic.
[Using] the argument of understaffing to [not] respond to code 30
alarms rings hollow when compared to such over-kill in response
to such incidents.
Responding to alarms may not be glamorous or exciting, but it does
give officers an up-close-and-personal glimpse of the neighborhoods
and citizens they are sworn to protect and to serve.
Sincerely,
Roger B. Huntman
