Links to Websites with Community Policing Information

There's so much information available online about Community Policing that it's hard to know where to begin. The popularity of these programs springs from the fact that Police Departments can point to them as a reason that moral is up and crime rates are down. Both the Officers and the community they serve feel they are a part of the solution.

These people are not forming vigilantly groups, but rather partnerships in improving the quality of life in their area. Community Policing programs are incredibly cost effective. As they succeed, the role of the Police Officer is understood, respected and admired.

It's completely win / win ...

Community Policing Consortium

The Community Policing Consortium is a partnership of five of the leading police organizations in the United States:

· · International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP)
· · National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE)
· · National Sheriffs' Association (NSA)
· · Police Executive Research Forum (PERF)
· · Police Foundation

These five organizations play a principal role in the development of community policing research, training and technical assistance, and each is firmly committed to the advancement of this policing philosophy.

Here are but a few of the websites devoted to Community Policing courtesy of the Community Policing Consortium:
