Working to prevent family violence, domestic violence and sexual
assault ...
Ms. Jenkins has spent 23 years working within the legal system in
law enforcement and advocacy for battered women, abused children
and juveniles. She served as a Steering Committee member with the
Commission on the Status of Women assisting with the development
of protocol for law enforcement's response to domestic violence,
which was written into legislation in the State of California.
Since 1994, Ms. Jenkins has worked as a Victim Advocate engaged
primarily with victims of domestic violence, most of which was with
King County Prosecutor's Office in Seattle, Washington. Previously
she worked as a Police Investigator with the Pasadena Police Department
in Pasadena, California for 11 years. She held various assignments,
including domestic violence and sexual assault investigations. Ms.
Jenkins also worked for the Ventura county District Attorney's Office
as a Victim Advocate, as the lead advocate in case services and
advocacy to domestic violence victims. Ms. Jenkins was assigned
the lead in the development and implementation of the 911 cellular
program "S.O.S.", designed to provide free cellular phone service
for domestic violence victims.
In July 1999, Ms. Jenkins joined the Coalition to End Family Violence
as the Domestic Violence Assistance Program Manager. Ms. Jenkins
supervised the agency's emergency shelter services program, including
the 24-hour crisis lines. Shelter services included case management,
counseling, legal advocacy and a children's program. Supervision
included 15 staff members, various volunteers, budgets and grants.
While at the Coalition to End Family Violence, Ms. Jenkins gave
public presentations on family violence issues, needs and statistics
for purposes of training, information, awareness and fund development.
Ms. Jenkins joined Interface Children Family Services in January
2002 as an Education Outreach Specialist in the Domestic Violence
Services Division. Ms. Jenkins coordinated the State of California
OCJP 40-hour domestic violence mandated training and provided domestic
violence education and awareness presentations and workshops in
the community. Ms. Jenkins was recently appointed as Director of
Volunteer Services with Interface. Ms. Jenkins manages the agency's
volunteer base of approximately 1,000 volunteers for multiple programs.
She does volunteer event planning, recruitment and training. She
also provides training, support, technical assistance, and outreach
for program volunteer development and retention.
Ms. Jenkins has provided training to law enforcement and community
agencies on domestic violence, child abuse and juvenile services.
She has been advisor and mentor to community and school-based programs
serving teen mothers. Ms. Jenkins has presented information to high
school students on dating violence, as part of class curriculum.
She has served as a PTA member, NAACP chapter member, and mentor
for families of cancer survivors with UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles,
California.
Ms. Jenkins has been a member of the Ventura County Domestic Violence
Task Force from 1998, through the recent merger with the Ventura
County Partnership for Safe Families, where she is currently serving
as Chair of the Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Committee. She
is in her 5th year serving as an Executive Board Member with Ventura
Packers Youth Football Association, Ventura, California. Ms. Jenkins
is also a Board Member for Saticoy Little League, Ventura, California;
and is a member of the Buena High School Football Boosters, Ventura,
California.
Judy Jenkins is currently the chairwoman of the Domestic Violence
& Sexual Assault Committee of the Ventura County Partnership for
Safe Families.
