In LA County
March 30th
Hi,
I don't know who subscribed me to the list but this is interesting.
I would like to know if such a place exists for residents of Los
Angeles County? I have a home in the city of Los Angeles, but currently
reside in the County area. Thanks for any info.
Leave me on the list, I want to be involved. Actually we are starting
a grassroots organization here ... my sister, a neighbor and myself
were just sick and tired of being afraid. So we got out and tried
to rally the community to action. Slow response so far, but we are
committed even if we have to go it alone.
[Editor's note: She goes on to say they're starting to build a new
website to address these issues, and will let us know when its ready
to see.]
We are just getting started and would like to work with all of the
organizations out there, especially the Los Angeles County Sheriff's
Department.
[In] November 2000 my oldest son ... was killed ... at our home
so I know this is something I have to do. I don't want any more
parents to have to go through what I am going through.
My son would tell me "mom be careful" but he would also be right
with me knocking on doors. So we are looking for information and
direction, help, whatever ... help that takes us out of this fear
that we live in.
I grew up in East Los Angeles ... yeah, we were poor, but this life
our kids are living is too much on anybody. I grieve for them, and
God willing I would like to try to help them to have a life that
is happy and joyful, [with] just the normal fear(s) like crossing
the street, stuff like that.
Take care

Note: Because Ms. Just OutsideLA wrote this, we decided to include
some information on the site we'd not originally thought to use.
Now there's a page linking all the Southern California City webpages,
another linked to all the local Police Departments, and still a
third meant mainly for local law enforcement people, which has a
variety of Police Officer's Associations.
We thank Ms. Just OutsideLA for her thoughts, and will be watching
her website's progress. We'll be sure to let you know when it's
ready to view!
